Buda-Koshelevo is one of the largest agricultural regions of Gomel oblast. It is situated in the northeast of the oblast between the Rivers Dnepr and Sozh. The area of the region founded on July 17, 1924 is 1,6 thousand square kilometers with the total population of more than 40 thousand people. The region borders on the Gomel, Vetka, Chechersk, Rogachev, Zhlobin and Rechitsa regions /Gomel oblast/.
Buda-Koshelevo is one of the most Chernobyl affected regions. A considerable part of the territory has been polluted with radionuclids. In the post- Chernobyl period 22 settlements were resettled. The population shrank by almost 9 thousand people.
