GOMEL (BelTA) – Specialists of the Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft drilled another high-rate well in the Armadillo field (block 55) in Ecuador, the company’s press service told BelTA.
The well is 3,496m deep. Once fully operational, it is expected to produce 64 tonnes of oil per day. Work is now in progress to prepare the well for commercial operation.
The source reminded that the Armadillo oil field is being developed in line with the contract signed by the Ecuadorian state oil extraction company Petroamazonas and Belorusneft's daughter enterprise Service Oil Ecuador Ecuaservoil. The project provides for optimizing business processes, developing the infrastructure, performing geological exploration services, drilling and repairing wells in the Armadillo field. Methods to increase oil production will be worked out.
The Belarusian company oversees the entire process. Belarusian specialists stand by to assist with well drilling and well operation. Specialists of the Belarusian oil industry research institute BelNIPIneft handle a number of geological tasks starting with data processing and interpretation and ending with model compilation and the evaluation of the Armadillo oil field reserves. The institute gave a few hints about the optimal locations for drilling the wells, Belorusneft representatives said.
Taking into account the new well oil is now being extracted from six wells in the Armadillo oil field. The daily output exceeds 300 tonnes. Over 100,000 tonnes of oil is supposed to be extracted in 2018. A total of 11 wells will be built in line with the contract signed with Petroamazonas.
