GOMEL(BelTA) – Manufacturing, tourist and cultural potential of Gomel Oblast will be showcased at a fair and festival in Russia's Buryatia. These plans were discussed at a meeting of Gomel Oblast authorities and business people with Chairman of the National and Cultural Autonomy of Belarusians in Buryatia Alexander Kozlov, BelTA learned from Alevtina Saranchuk who is in charge of foreign economic contacts at the economy committee of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
In particular, companies and organizations, as well as performers from Gomel Oblast received an invitation to take part in the ZveniUdinsk fair and festival of Russian songs to be held in Ulan-Ude in June 2019. “The fair is meant to preserve and promote merchant traditions with the help of participants from Russia, China, Mongolia and other countries. The fair will offer an exhibition area as large as several dozens of thousands of square meters where visitors will see foodstuffs, industrial products, jewelry, souvenirs, clothing, household items and handmade goods,” Alevtina Saranchuk said. She emphasized that participation in this fair will be highly instrumental in promoting products and services of Gomel Oblast companies in Siberia and Far East of Russia, as well as Southeast Asia.
Gomel Oblast, in turn, invited Buryatia to take part in the Gomel Economic Forum and the 20th edition of the international exhibition-fair Spring in Gomel that will take place in May.
The participants of the meeting also reviewed progress in implementing the cooperation agreement in trade, economy, science, technology, social security, culture and humanitarian matters signed by Gomel Oblast and Buryatia during the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Mogilev. An action plan was drafted following the meeting. Construction and agribusiness companies of Gomel Oblast are considering a possibility to supply their products to Buryatia. Cooperation in tourism and culture will be given a considerable boost.
