GOMEL (BelTA) – The Gomel Oblast Branch of the Belarusian Red Cross Society (BRCS) began distributing another set of vouchers to resettlers from Lugansk Oblast and Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine, BelTA learned from head of the BRCS Gomel Oblast Branch Alla Smolyak.
Each voucher is worth Br100 and can be used to buy foodstuffs (except for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products), articles of daily necessity.
Eligible for this kind of one-time assistance are elderly people, people with disabilities, pregnant and nursing women, single-parent families with children, families with many children. In order to get a voucher, applicants should approach a local BRCS office. The vouchers can be redeemed in the retail network of the Belarusian National Union of Consumer Societies Belkoopsoyuz all over Gomel Oblast.
Alla Smolyak noted that this kind of assistance to the displaced persons from Lugansk Oblast and Donetsk Oblast has been provided since 2015. This time 276 vouchers will be distributed in the region.
She added that the vouchers are distributed in line with the program to respond to humanitarian emergencies of refugees and displaced persons from Ukraine. “The vouchers were purchased with the support of the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations of the European Commission,” she added.
