Social standards important for implementing ‘village of the future' concept in Belarus

GOMEL, 2 May (BelTA) – It is important to develop the social sphere in addition to the manufacturing sector in the course of implementing the “village of the future” concept. Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova pointed it out as she visited the agrotown of Michurinskaya in Gomel Oblast on 2 May, BelTA has learned.

The agrotown is located in Gomel District close to the city of Gomel itself. It has the necessary infrastructure: a school, a community center, a successfully operating agricultural enterprise. Plans have been made to open its museum. People commute from Gomel to the agrotown for work. “Such a populated locality can be used as an example. But it would be even better if such a ‘village of the future' was located even farther from the city,” Natalya Kochanova noted.

The official went on saying: “While developing the production sector, it is important to create the necessary conditions in the social sphere, too, so that young people and all the rural residents could have an opportunity to go to the movies, go to the community center and find a pastime – dancing or choir singing. All the conditions should be created for the people, for their self-realization.” Only an integral approach can create “the village of the future,” she added.

According to Natalya Kochanova, a growing number of Belarusians leave big cities in favor of small rural communities where they work at agricultural enterprises or open farm stays or create private farms. “It is great when people can realize their dreams, can find an application for their abilities and can live at a calmer pace,” she believes.

In the course of the working trip attention was paid to the fulfillment of the head of state's instructions, including those given during the latest address to the nation and the parliament. For instance, instructions to clean up and beautify populated localities. “These matters are of current interest, because this year is a Year of Native Land when the president wants ideal order established all over the country,” Natalya Kochanova said. In her words, what she saw in Gomel District convincingly demonstrates that hardworking people live there.
