Remittances to Belarus up 15.5% in 2017

MINSK(BelTA) – The amount of remittances sent to Belarus jumped by 15.5% in 2017 over the prior year, BelTA learned from the National Bank of Belarus.

In 2017, the Belarusian citizens received $373.67 million in remittances from abroad through international money transfer systems versus $323.37 million in 2016.

Meanwhile, $164.567 million was sent from Belarus abroad in 2017, up 8.7% from 2016 ($151.31 million).

The average amount of a money transfer to Belarus in 2017 was $330.12 ($350.39 for transfers from Belarus).

The data includes only the money sent through international money transfer services such as Western Union, Unistream, KoronaPay, Contact, BLIZKO, Leader, MoneyGram, Kolibri, Faster, Anelik, and InterExpress.
