In January-August 2022, enterprises based in Gomel Oblast increased export to Russia by 40%, to Egypt by 7.3 times year-on-year, Gomel Oblast Governor Andrei Konyushko said at the meeting of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee on 31 October, BelTA has learned.
According to Andrei Konyushko, in January-August 2022 the export made up 79.2% of the amount posted in the same period in 2021. “If we exclude the oil factor, we have almost reached the level of last year,” he specified.
The deputy governor emphasized that enterprises of all forms of ownership are redirecting export flows to the East, to Asia. “In January-August 2022, enterprises based in Gomel Oblast increased export to Russia by 40%, to Egypt by 7.3 times. The export to other countries of the East and Asia grew several times. We are set to build on momentum by the end of the year,” he said.
The export of services grew by 10% in January-August 2022.
Andrei Konyushko also commented on the instruction of the head of state to launch new promising enterprises in the region. A list of 134 projects has been drafted. Eight projects worth Br819 million have already been implemented and 665 jobs have been created. Another 13 projects are planned to be completed by the end of the year. “We have held talks with the Development Bank in order to find financing for other projects. The Development Bank confirmed its readiness to consider loans for 21 projects in 2023, including ten projects in the agricultural sector,” the deputy governor informed.
He noted that these projects will be under special control. “The same applies to the involvement of small and medium-sized businesses in industrial cooperation and import substitution,” Andrei Konyushko added.
