We can ensure our society develop without shocks for peace and concord to reign in Belarus, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Igor Lutsky told the media ahead of his meeting with representatives of Gomel Oblast on 11 January, BelTA has learned.
Igor Lutsky stressed that the Constitution has always been and remains the Basic Law, the guarantee of independence and sovereignty of Belarus. At the same time, the society is rapidly developing. “Transformations in the society necessitate amendments to the Basic Law as well,” he said.
The constitutional amendments have been worked out in detail at various levels. The new provisions have been brought up for discussion. “Now we are working out the final approaches together. Belarusians are actively engaged in the discussion. The new provisions are analyzed and proposals made to improve the Basic Law. The Constitution will soon be submitted to a referendum. This is also relevant in connection with the geopolitical situation in the world. It is in our interest and our power to ensure that society develops without shocks, so that peace and concord reign in Belarus,” said Igor Lutsky.
