BAKU, 18 May (BelTA) – Contracts worth $55 million have been signed as a result of the first day of the Belarusian delegation’s visit to Azerbaijan, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Mikhail Myatlikov on 18 May.
According to the source, a business meeting of representatives of Belarusian and Azerbaijani companies took place on 18 May. A number of contracts worth a total of about $55 million were signed. New contacts are being established. Mikhail Myatlikov said he expects more contracts to be signed within the next few days.
In his words, the main contracts focused on woodworking. OAO Mostovdrev and ZAO Sosna signed contracts on the delivery of plywood ($17.9 million), MDF boards, LMDF boards ($14.4 million), laminate flooring ($7.4 million), and timber ($2.1 million). OAO FanDOK and ULU GOUYCHA Ltd signed a contract on plywood supplies ($5.3 million). The management company of the holding company Belorusskie Oboi and OOO SN-Poligraf signed a contract on deliveries of three-layer cellulose coated cardboard.
Food was another area of interest. Commercial contracts were signed between OAO Lida Milk Plant and OOO PFC AZ on deliveries of powdered milk products ($2 million) and between Volkovysk-based OAO Bellakt and LLC Jasmin Trading on deliveries of baby food and specialized food for pregnant women and nursing mothers ($1.2 million).
Belarusian Glass Company and OOO Inci Kristal signed a contract on deliveries of glass and crystal products made by OAO Neman Glassworks ($1 million). A number of other contracts on selling various products to Azerbaijan were also signed.
Apart from that, Belarusian companies are showcasing their products at the international expos Caspian Agro and Inter Food in Baku on 18-20 May. Products made by 39 Belarusian enterprises and organizations are on display. Belarus’ exposition occupies 245m2.
Caspian Agro is a major international agriculture expo. Its main divisions include innovative technologies in agriculture, agricultural machinery, animal husbandry and poultry farming, animal feed, veterinary medicine, agricultural landscape, hotbeds and greenhouses, plant growing, growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, cotton growing, textiles and much more.
The Inter Food Azerbaijan expo is taking place alongside Caspian Agro and is the key venue for meetings of food industry players of the Caspian Sea region.
This year’s Caspian Agro and Inter Food Azerbaijan have gathered 450 companies from 27 countries, including Belarus, Azerbaijan, Germany, Georgia, Spain, Italy, India, Lithuania, Netherlands, Russia, Saudi Arabia, USA, Turkey, and Sri Lanka.
