8,470 hectares of winter barley harvested in Belarus

Some 8,470 hectares of winter barley was harvested in Belarus, the Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

As of 6 July, agricultural workers cut down grass on 89.8% of grassland in Vitebsk Oblast as part of the first grass cutting. Brest Oblast, Gomel Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Minsk Oblast, and Mogilev Oblast have already hit the first grass cutting target. Grass was harvested from 1,304,800ha of land, 98.6% of the designated area.

Second grass cutting was performed on 42.6% of the designated area in Brest Oblast, 21% in Gomel Oblast, 13.6% in Grodno Oblast, 27.2% in Minsk Oblast and 12.8% in Mogilev Oblast.

Some 8,470 hectares of winter barley was harvested, or 14.43% of the designated area, as well as 1,740 hectares of winter rapeseed (14% of the plan).

Belarusian agricultural workers produced 433,100 tonnes of hay (45.3% of the target), 8,505,000 tonnes of haylage (63.3%), and 248,500 tonnes of silage (1.30%).

Plans have been made to make a total of 9.6 million tonnes of feed units out of grass this year. So far 27.8% of the targeted amount has been made. Belarusian farmers are supposed to stock up on nearly 19.8 million tonnes of silage, 13.2 million tonnes of haylage (including 1 million tonnes in polymeric packaging), and 955,200 tonnes of hay.
