Gomel Oblast’s output of import substitutes past $952m in 2023

Gomel Oblast enterprises made over $952 million worth of import-substituting products in 2023, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Ivan Krupko at the committee’s session held to discuss results of Gomel Oblast’s social and economic development in 2023 and tasks for 2024.

Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Yuri Nazarov took part in the session.

Speaking about last year’s results, Ivan Krupko remarked that the growth rate of the gross regional product totaled 102.9%. Over Br5 billion was invested in the development of the oblast, with the growth rate at 107.2%. Wages rose by more than 18%. The output of import-substituting products exceeded $952 million, which allowed hitting the increased target set by the government.

The Gomel Oblast governor added that all the branches of the economy reported an increase in the output of merchandise and services, except for the transport industry.

As an important task Ivan Krupko mentioned a confident start of the new year and the achievement of goals set by the head of state and the government. Performance targets have been set for every economy branch and every territory.

“In January we discussed the matrix of tasks for the year 2024 in detail with all the economy branches, districts, and enterprises. We discussed prospects of work in Q1 2024 and what has to be done in order to fulfill assigned tasks. It is necessary to start demonstrating results starting from January,” the head of the Gomel Oblast administration pointed out.
