Election commissions and polling stations all over Belarus were checked on 5 October. The check indicated full preparedness for the forthcoming election, BelTA learned from Secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Nikolai Lozovik.
According to the source, as part of the test the Central Election Commission was supposed to receive certain statistics. The real state of the infrastructure available to polling stations was also analyzed. "We've received the information and can state that the republic is ready for voting. The election commissions have all the necessary conditions for normal work," said the CEC Secretary.
Nikolai Lozovik also explained that sessions of election commissions took place at all the polling stations on 5 October. Participants of the sessions analyzed whether all the necessary conditions for the normal operation of the commissions and comfortable voting had been created. "In other words, they checked whether they had the necessary tables, chairs, voting booths and ballot boxes as well as the necessary documents and legal literature, information about candidates and so on," he noted.
As a result of the checks documents were submitted to the relevant district commissions. Each document indicated the number of voters on the voting lists, information about the availability of means of communication and so on. Among other things the documents indicated that the polling stations are now protected by police.
Sessions of territorial commissions were held later on. In particular, they collected information fed by the polling stations. All the information was summed up and transferred higher up the chain — to the oblast commissions (to the city commission in Minsk). After that the data was submitted to the Central Election Commission.
