European Games Belt of Friendship to go on display in Minsk

MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – The Belt of Friendship made by participants of the 2nd European Games will be presented at the Modern Belarusian Statehood Museum in Minsk on 19 September, BelTA has learned from the National History Museum.
The National History Museum set up a Belarusian cultural center in the Athletes' Village during the 2nd European Games, one of the most interesting sports events of 2019. Foreign tourists learned more about Belarusian national costume, household items, musical instruments and works of art.
“Master classes in Belarusian doll and clay pots making were very popular among visitors. Athletes from different countries contributed to this belt. All in all, sportsmen from 35 countries, representatives of diplomatic corps, the media, and distinguished guests wove their good thoughts, hopes and joy into this four-meter belt,” representative of museum said.
The Belt of Friendship will be donated to the Modern Belarusian Statehood Museum as the reminder of the landmark event, the symbol of good relations among people from different countries, and a token of respect to history.
The presentation event will also feature the flags of the 2nd European Games, the European Olympic Committees, and the Flame of Peace relay, the uniforms of torchbearers and volunteers, and gifts from the National Olympic Committees of foreign countries.
Attending the event will be representatives of the National Olympic Committee, the Sport and Tourism Ministry of Belarus, and the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC).
