Group of Latvian business women to visit Belarus


MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – A delegation of Latvian business women will pay a visit to Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Union of Women.

The delegation will be led by Deputy Chairperson of the Latvian Confederation of Employers, Chairperson of the Board of the Association of Latvian Private Investors, Head of the Latvian nongovernment organization Lidere Aiva Viksna. The visit will be running from 26 to 29 October.

The Latvian guests are expected to meet with Chairperson of the Belarusian Union of Women, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assmebly of Belarus Marianna Shchetkina, take part in a meeting of the club of business women and other events. The main topic for discussion is women in business and the development of the female entrepreneurship. The Belarusian and Latvian public women's organizations show mutual interest in strengthening international cooperation and expanding women's rights and opportunities. It is expected that an agreement on bilateral cooperation between signed between Lidere Association and the Belarusian Union of Women. The document will envisage the strengthening of bilateral and regional cooperation, joint events, the implementation of projects to develop business and promote female entrepreneurs, and the implementation of the gender equality policy and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
